Question

I want autism information or support. Which kind of organisation am I actually looking for?

Autism organisations can provide very different things: direct support, information, research, campaigning, peer material or policy advocacy. Treating them as interchangeable can send people to the wrong place or make an advocacy perspective look like neutral clinical authority.

Current understanding

The National Autistic Society is the current catalogue entry most directly oriented toward UK autism information, services, community and directories. Autistica is primarily a research and campaigning charity and explicitly is not a general support service. The Autistic Self Advocacy Network is a US autistic-led disability-rights advocacy organisation, useful for an autistic-led policy perspective rather than as a neutral clinical authority. Autistica Tips Hub contains community-contributed tips and resources; those experiences may be useful but are not universal advice.
